Threadbare invited artist Leah Clements to lead a “Reweirding” workshop exploring audio description as a creative and critical practice. Through exercises of assigning, removing and reworking meaning, participants experimented with spoken description as a tool for disability access, perception and estrangement. Developed from Clements’s exhibition “INSOMNIA” (2022–23), “Reweirding” invited artists and non-artists to engage audio description beyond utility, as a method for drawing out the uncanny by uncovering the strangeness in the process of understanding through description, muddling and repetition.
